The 1-minute Gatsbie tour (turn the sound on)

Every founder raising a round ends up with the same three jobs: find the right investors, reach them, and keep track of who's interested. Several tools help with parts of that. This guide compares five of them (Gatsbie, Metal, OpenVC, Foundersuite and Visible), so you can pick the one that fits how you raise.

The short version

  • Gatsbie is built around AI fit: upload your deck, and Gatsbie scores thousands of funds against your startup, explains every match, drafts a personalised email for each, and tracks when investors open your email, profile or deck. Every fund profile shows a written investment thesis and the fund's portfolio companies, and you can browse them for free. Investors can use it the other way round, screening startups against their thesis.
  • Metal is the closest alternative to Gatsbie: an AI fundraising platform that ranks investors, analyses their theses and past deals, and maps warm-intro paths through your Gmail and LinkedIn. It has no open directory or free plan. Access starts with a demo, and pricing is quoted by stage.
  • OpenVC is a large free investor directory with a simple way to submit your deck to investors who accept cold pitches. Profiles list themes, stages and countries, but no portfolio companies.
  • Foundersuite is a long-established fundraising CRM with one of the largest investor databases (216,000 investors including LPs and family offices).
  • Visible is strongest at investor relations after the raise: investor updates, data rooms and deck analytics, plus a free investor database.

When to choose each

Choose Gatsbie if you want to stop guessing which investors fit. Instead of filtering a list yourself, you get a ranked shortlist where every fund has a score, a verdict and a reason, plus a draft email ready to send. You can read each fund's thesis and portfolio before you reach out, without a sales call. It's also the most affordable paid option here, and the only one in this comparison that lets investors screen startups against their own thesis.

Choose Metal if you're raising a later seed or Series A, your network is strong, and you want warm-intro mapping and meeting coaching, and a quoted, demo-first plan suits you.

Choose OpenVC if you mainly want a long free list of investors and plan to pitch the ones that accept cold decks through the platform. Expect to research each fund's thesis and portfolio elsewhere.

Choose Foundersuite if you need the widest possible database, including LPs and family offices, and want a mature CRM to run a large, process-heavy raise.

Choose Visible if you've already raised and your priority is investor updates, data rooms and reporting to existing shareholders.

Many founders combine tools, for example a directory for research plus a CRM for tracking. Gatsbie aims to cover the full loop of match, outreach, tracking and CRM in one place.

How Gatsbie works, in four steps

  1. Upload your pitch deck. Gatsbie reads it and fills in your profile: stage, sector, traction, team. Turn on stealth mode to keep it private.
  2. Run AI matching. Gatsbie compares your startup with thousands of funds and returns a ranked list with a score, verdict and reason for each.
  3. Send personalised outreach. Every matched fund has a ready-to-send email. Send it from Gatsbie or your own mailbox; either way, you'll see who opened your email, your profile or your deck.
  4. Track your pipeline. Move funds from To contact to In talks to Invested in your investor CRM.
