    Getting started

What Gatsbie is and where things are

Gatsbie is an AI fundraising platform that matches startups with the investors most likely to back them. Investors use it to screen startups against their investment thesis, and fund managers to find LPs.

The menu is always on the left (on phones and small screens: ☰, top left). A switch at its top picks Founder or Investor; each shows its own main button and items, and everyone can use both.

Founder: main button "AI investor match", then Investor Discovery (closed until clicked: All investors; Startup investors: VC funds, Angels, CVC, Accelerators, Family Offices, Grants; Later stage & debt: Private Equity, Search Funds, Private Credit, Venture Debt, Banks; Add investor firm — each type opens the fund list filtered to it, e.g. Search Funds), Matches (All matches, Outreach, Past matchings), Favorite Investors, My Startups (All startups, then each of your startups with its shortcuts).

Investor: main button "Screen startups" (Startup Screening), then Startup Listings, Matched Startups, Startup CRM (All deals, then the last 5 startups you opened, each with One pager, Due Diligence, Investment memo and Screen against VC), Limited Partners (Family Office, Funds of Funds & Institutions).

Always at the bottom: Settings (Account Setting, Pricing, Top-up Wallet, Connect to Claude) and More (Jobs, Groups, Services, Guidebooks, Events, Messages, Invite Friends).

Your avatar (top right) opens: Profile Settings, AI Runs, Past Investor Matchings, Role, Profiles this month, Pricing and Log out.

Typical founder journey: 1) create your startup, 2) run AI investor matching, 3) review matches and send outreach, 4) track who engages and keep your pipeline in Favorite Investors.

Main pages: Startup Listings, Investor Discovery, Investor Outreach, Startup Screening, Pricing.

No account? Pitch deck matching emails you matched investors for your deck. You can also use Gatsbie from Claude: see Connect to Claude.

    About Gatsbie, this assistant

Gatsbie (beta) can: search all VCs in the database, explore your matched investors (filter by country, stage, sector, score…), and explain how to use Gatsbie. It never shows investor emails; it links to the fund pages instead.

Signed-out visitors get a few questions in total; free users get a number of questions in total; Level 1 and Level 2 get a monthly allowance. The count is shown under the chat.

Prefer to read? The ? button next to "Ask Gatsbie" (bottom right) opens the help guide with all of this on one page. To reach a person, use "Contact the help desk" at the bottom of it (Still need help?) or email info@gatsbie.net.

    Use Gatsbie from Claude (connector)

Yes: you can use Gatsbie from Claude. Connect them once and ask Claude to search investors, explore your matches and prepare outreach with your Gatsbie data.

    • Sign in to Gatsbie and open Connect to Claude (menu → Settings → Connect to Claude), then copy the server URL.
    • In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose "Add custom connector".
    • Name it Gatsbie, paste the server URL and click Connect.
    • Sign in to Gatsbie and choose Allow.

Claude acts as you: same access and plan limits, and investor contact details (emails, phones) are never shared. It can read your data but not change anything. It works with any app that supports remote MCP servers with sign-in (OAuth).

You can see and disconnect connected apps on the same Connect to Claude page. If the menu item isn't there, the Claude connection is paused for now.

    Your account, profile and role

Account Setting: menu → Settings → Account Setting, or your avatar → Profile Settings. Sections: Basic profile, Investor profile, Professional profile, My guidebook, My social score, My services, My requests, Investment requests, Communities, My connections, My wallet, My subscription, Delete account.

Role (founder, investor, advisor…): avatar → "Role: …" to change it; it decides what Gatsbie sets up for you. Investors set their fund and tracked funds in "Investor profile".

Password: use "Forgot password" on the sign-in page. Sign up is free at /auth.

Delete account: Account Setting → "Delete account" (deactivated instead if you contributed content).

    Your startup

    Create a startup profile

Go to Startup Listings and click "Create Startup" (top right).

Fastest: upload your pitch deck (PDF) and Gatsbie fills the profile for you. You can also add from your website URL, paste text (notes, an email, a memo), or choose "Or fill in manually".

Check each step (name, locations, stage, industry & sector, business model, problem, solution, market, traction, team, one-pager), then save in "Almost done". After creating it, Gatsbie suggests next steps: run AI mapping with VCs and review the draft investor emails in Investor Outreach.

Stealth mode: turn it on in "Almost done" or later in the edit form, so only you can see the startup, even with a direct link. The "Visibility" box on your startup page shows whether stealth is on and which sections are public ("Change in Edit").

Your startups are listed in the menu under Startup Listings, and on Startup Listings with "Created by me".

Edit your startup and use its tools

Open your startup from Startup Listings (switch to "Created by me"), or from the menu: Startup Listings → your startup → Detail.

    On the startup page:

    • Edit everything with "Edit" on the "Startup Information" card; edit stage, raising, industry, sector and business model with "Edit key facts".
    • Tabs: General, Team, Pitch Deck, Financial Projections, Revenue, Demo, News, Due Diligence. You choose which are public in the edit form.
    • "One-pager" and "Investment memo": generate them (Generate one-pager / Generate memo), then "Edit text", "Regenerate" or pick older "Versions". The memo downloads as Word or PDF ("Download Word", "Download PDF").
    • "Screen against VC": check how well the startup fits a specific VC's thesis and portfolio.
    • "Due Diligence": "Run DD" for an AI due-diligence report (strengths, risks, questions); "Share with founder" if you are an investor.
    • "Analytics": total views, unique viewers, time spent and the most viewed sections.
    • Manage buttons: Merge (with a duplicate), Post a Job, Verify (request a verified badge), Ambassadors, Invite code, and Delete (red; a Gatsbie admin can restore it on request).

The "Matched with N investors" box shows your top matches; click one to open its details, or open the "Matched Investors" panel to sort and filter them.

Menu shortcuts: Startup Listings → your startup → Detail, One pager, Due Diligence, Investment memo, Post a job, Analytics, Screen against VC, Schedule Investor Matching.

Find and follow startups (for investors)

Startup Listings lists startups on Gatsbie. Use "Search startups" and the Location, Stage, Sector and Industry filters; "Recommended Startups" shows the ones picked for you. "Everyone / Created by me / Following" switches whose startups you see.

On a startup page, click "Follow" to track its updates and add it to your watchlist (then find it under "Following").

Investors: "Matched Startups" (menu, Investor side, or avatar menu) shows matches and screenings for the VC funds you follow; set your fund and the funds you track in Account Setting → "Investor profile" ("Competitors & funds I track"). "Match Insights" on Startup Listings shows match signals across your startups and CRM funds ("By Startup", "Recent activity").

To get alerted about new high-fit startups for a fund, use a Dealflow alert. To check startups against a fund's thesis, use Startup Screening.

Signed-out visitors see a preview of each startup; sign up free to see the full profile.

    Finding investors

Search the investor database (Investor Discovery)

Investor Discovery lists the funds on Gatsbie (tabs at the top: All, Favorites, Matches). Menu → Investor Discovery lists every investor type with its count (VC funds, Angels, CVC, Accelerators, Family Offices, Grants, Private Equity, Search Funds, Private Credit, Venture Debt, Banks); clicking one opens the list filtered to that type.

Click "Browse … VC firms" to open the list. Search "by name, thesis, location", or use the quick chips and the filters: Location, Stage, Sector, Focus Location, Type (VC, PE, Family Office…), Status, plus "Investor studied at" and "Investor worked at". "Engaged" and "Contacted" show funds active with Gatsbie founders in the last 90 days. Some plans also get the Favorites, Created by me and Active switches.

Each card shows check size, stage, capital type, sectors, portfolio and contacts; click it for the full profile. The matching box on top matches your startup with the funds you filtered.

Also in the list: "Download" (Excel), "Bulk" (coffee chat requests to several contacts) and "Add investor firm".

How many profiles you can open per month depends on your plan ("Profiles this month" in the avatar menu); see Pricing. Signed out, you see a preview of the list.

    Understand a VC's profile page

A VC page shows: what they invest in (thesis), stage, capital type (the kind of money: venture equity, growth equity, buyout, debt…), check or fund size, focus regions, sectors, whether they're actively investing (with evidence), companies they've invested in, sectors they've backed most, and who to contact. "Engaged with N startups" / "Contacted by N founders" show their activity on Gatsbie in the last 90 days.

Buttons: "Add to favorites" (heart), "Dealflow alert", "Suggest an edit" and "Update with AI" (AI re-checks the firm's website and public sources and refreshes thesis, portfolio, team and activity).

Under "Who to contact": "Show email" and "Coffee chat" for each person.

"Matched with N startups" shows startups matched to this VC.

Contact emails and phones: click "Show email" next to a person (needs an investor subscription; see Pricing). Signed out, you see a preview; sign up free to see everything.

    Get an investor's email address

Investor emails are on each fund's profile page:

    • Find the fund in Investor Discovery (or in your matches) and open its page.
    • Go to "Who to contact" (on family office pages: "Team Members").
    • Click "Show email" next to a person to see their email (and phone, when we have it), with a copy button.

The people on a fund's card in Investor Discovery are listed with "Show Email" too.

Emails need an investor subscription; see Pricing. Without one, "Show email" offers the subscription.

No subscription? Pitch deck matching emails you a report of matched investors with their contacts, paid per deck.

To write to them, Investor Outreach also drafts an email for every matched fund.

    Download an investor list (Excel)

In Investor Discovery (and on the Family Office list), filter the funds you want, then click "Download" and pick "Download 5 / 20 / 50 / 100 / 200 records". You get an Excel file with each fund's details and its contacts.

Bigger downloads need Level 1 or Level 2; the menu shows which size needs which plan and "N of M downloads used this month". Exact allowances: Pricing.

To download your AI matching results instead, use "Download" → "Download as PDF" / "Download as Excel" on the result. From Startup CRM you can download one-pagers and screening reports.

    Angels and CVCs

Menu → Investor Discovery → Angels or CVC.

Angels and CVCs have their own filters, profile pages, contacts ("Show email") and Favorites.

Every plan sees the full Angel and CVC lists; profiles you open count toward your monthly profile limit like VCs; see Pricing.

    Add a fund that's missing

Menu → Investor Discovery → "Add investor firm" (also in the Investor Discovery filters and on Favorite Investors). Works for any investor firm (VC, private equity, family office, bank, accelerator, lender…); it adds firms, not individual people. Pick existing funds from the Gatsbie directory, or add new ones from their website URLs and Gatsbie fills in the details. Family offices can also be added with "Add Family Office" on the Family Office list.

Investors can link their own fund in Account Setting → Investor profile ("Add my fund").

Save investors and track them (Favorite Investors / CRM)

Click the heart ("Add to favorites") on any fund card or profile page. Your list: menu → Favorite Investors (the "Favorites" tab).

    On Favorite Investors:

    • Each fund has a status: To contact, Contacted, In talks, Invested, Passed. Switch "Cards / Board" to drag funds between status columns.
    • "Add fund label" to tag funds (e.g. a deal or campaign), then "Filter by fund label".
    • "Add investor firm" adds funds that aren't saved yet, including ones missing from Gatsbie.
    • Matching here only compares your startup with the investors in this list.
    • "Investor View" lists the people at your saved funds: "Send Email", "Add Note" (private notes), "Bulk Email" / "Send Outreach" to selected contacts, and your outreach stats. "Fund view" switches back.

Angels and CVCs have their own Favorites in their tabs. How many you can save depends on your plan; see Pricing.

Request a coffee chat with an investor

On a fund's profile page, under "Who to contact", click "Coffee chat" next to a person (on fund cards and family office pages: "Request Coffee Chat"). Write a subject and message, optionally attach a file (PDF, Word or image, up to 10 MB, shared as a link), and send. It is emailed to that person; it works only when we have their email.

To ask several people at once, click "Bulk" in Investor Discovery (or "Bulk Coffee Chat" on the Family Office list), select contacts and send one request to all.

For a full outreach email per matched fund, use Investor Outreach.

    AI matching & outreach

    Run AI investor matching

Go to Investor Discovery (menu, Founder side → "AI investor match").

In the matching box, describe your startup, add a pitch deck ("Pitch deck") or pick one of your startups ("My startup"), then click the match button (e.g. "Match with all investors", or "Match with VC" when a type is chosen).

Your startup is matched against the investors listed below the box, so the filters there (location, stage, sector, focus location, type, investor background) narrow the pool. Click "Browse … VC firms" to see and filter the list. In "Choose Matching Scope" you can match against "All VCs listed below" or "Select specific VCs".

As soon as you add a deck or pick a startup, "Before we match" asks where your company is based, your stage and "What are you raising, and from whom?"; then "Where should your investors be based?" lets you pick the continents whose funds you're matched with (by fund headquarters; your own continent is preselected). The free plan matches one continent at a time; Level 1 and up can pick several or "All continents" (see Pricing). Change these answers with "Change" under the box. If you only typed a description, the questions appear when you click the match button.

Before matching you review the profile Gatsbie read ("Review Your Profile"; click a section to edit) and choose "How many matches do you want?". "What are you raising, and from whom?" is optional: pick the kind of capital (venture equity, growth equity, buyout, mezzanine, debt, real estate, secondaries, special situations) and investor types (VC, private equity, family office, corporate VC, angels, lenders), or leave "Any that fits". So established companies can match with private equity, lenders and family offices too.

Each match gets a score, a verdict (e.g. Strong Buy, Potential) and "Why this match". Narrow results with "Filter results" (stage, location, focus location) or "Founder overlap" (founders who share a school or company with the VC's team). Funds you marked "Not a fit" are hidden.

Matching takes about 15–60 seconds. Results stay fully visible for 24 hours; after that a Level 1 subscription shows the whole result anytime. Runs per month depend on your plan; see Pricing.

    Find your past matching results

Open "Past Investor Matchings" from your avatar (top right), from menu → Matches → Past matchings (Founder side), or with the folder icon in the matching box. Click a run to open its results again.

All funds matched to your startups, from every run, screening and bulk match, are also in Investor Outreach → All matches and in Investor Discovery → Matches.

Scheduled and background runs are in AI Runs ("View results", and "Combined result" for a schedule).

Results older than 24 hours show in full with a Level 1 subscription; see Pricing.

Download, share or email your match results

On a matching result (new or opened from Past Investor Matchings) you have three buttons above the list:

    • "Download" → "Download as PDF" or "Download as Excel": the matched funds with scores, reasons and contacts, ready to share. Included with Level 2, otherwise it costs wallet points (shown on the button).
    • "Share": send the result to other Gatsbie users (search by name or email, add a note). Included with Level 1 or higher, otherwise wallet points.
    • "Bulk Email": email contacts across all matched funds at once (needs an investor subscription).

To download investor lists from the directory instead, use "Download" in Investor Discovery. Exact allowances are on Pricing; wallet points are topped up at Wallet.

Schedule investor matching (runs in the background)

From your startup page or the menu (My Startups → your startup → "Schedule Investor Matching"), or "New automatic run" on AI Runs, choose what to run:

    • AI mapping against all VCs in the database
    • against VCs that engaged with Gatsbie founders
    • against VCs headquartered in selected countries
    • against VCs matching keywords, or investing in specific industries
    • screen your startup against specific VCs (up to 10)

You get an email when it's done. Track progress in AI Runs (avatar menu → AI Runs): status Waiting, Scheduled, Running, Done, Failed; "View results" per run and "Combined result" merges the top matches of every run in a schedule. AI Runs also lists background screenings.

    Contact investors (Investor Outreach)

Investor Outreach (menu → Matches, Founder side) has two views:

    • All matches (/investor-outreach?view=all): every investor matched to your startups, from all runs, screenings and bulk matches.
    • Outreach: matched investors you can email.

The cards on top filter the list: Funds in queue, To email, Contacted, Engaged (the investor clicked a link in your email).

Every matched fund gets a draft email (Preview / Edit message to change it). Then choose how to send it:

    • "From my mailbox" (best delivery): 1) Copy addresses into the To field, 2) Copy email into Gmail or Outlook, 3) click "Mark as sent" so Investor Outreach counts it.
    • "Send via Gatsbie": sends to the selected contacts at once.

Afterwards it shows "Sent to N contacts".

Filters: "Search fund or startup", "Favorites", "Matched within" (days), "Match score", startup, source (AI mapping, Bulk match, Screening), VC location, stage, investor studied at / worked at.

Mark a fund "Not a fit" (red icon) to hide it for that startup; "Not a fit (N)" lists them so you can bring one back.

No matches yet? "Schedule AI matching". Outreach emails per month depend on your plan; see Pricing.

See all investors matched to your startups

Menu → Matches → All matches (also the "Matches" tab in Investor Discovery, Matched Investors) lists every fund matched to your startups, from all AI matching runs, screenings and bulk matches, including funds without an email yet. It works like Investor Outreach (same cards, filters, "Not a fit" and draft emails); Outreach shows only funds you can email.

On your startup page, "Matched with N investors" and the "Matched Investors" panel show that startup's matches (sort by Best score or Most recent, filter by type, location and focus location). Each match explains "Why it fits" and what to "Watch out for".

Get matched investors by email, without signing up (Pitch deck matching)

Pitch deck matching: no sign-up needed.

    • Pay: choose a pack of submissions, fill in your startup (name, location, stage; used where the deck doesn't say), optionally what you're raising ("Kind of capital", "Investor types") and where your investors should be based ("Investors based in": one or more continents, or "All continents"), your full name and the email you'll send the deck from, and accept the terms.
    • Email your deck: send one email with your pitch deck (PDF attached) from that address to the inbox shown on the page. One deck per email; only the first PDF is read.
    • Get your investors: you receive a report of matched investors with their contacts, normally within 24 hours (PDF and Excel).

A submission is used only once results are sent; unreadable decks use none. Already have a Gatsbie account with at least €15 in your wallet? You can skip step 1: email the deck from your account's address and €15 is taken from your wallet once the results are sent (bought submissions are always used first). A Gatsbie account is created for your email, where each deck is saved as a private startup with its results; set your password with "Forgot password" on the sign-in page. Prices are on the page.

    For investors

Screen startups against a VC (Startup Screening)

Go to Startup Screening (menu, Investor side → "Screen startups").

    1) "Add startups to screen": "Upload pitch decks" (several PDFs at once), "Pick from Gatsbie", "From a website", "Paste text" or "Fill a form". Up to 20 startups per run.

    2) Pick a VC to screen against ("Screen against VC"), or skip it for a quality assessment only.

    3) Click "Run screening" (or "Run quality check" without a VC). More than 5 startups run in the background (you can start another batch right away): you can close the window and you get an email when results are ready, also listed in AI Runs.

Each startup gets a fit verdict (Strong / Good / Weak Fit) with scores for thesis alignment, stage, sector, geography, ticket, portfolio synergy and founder/market, plus intrinsic quality (team, market, product, traction, business model, moat) and "Why this fits". Per startup: "Download full report (PDF)", "One pager", "Investment memo", "Pitch deck".

Screened startups are saved to your "Startup CRM" tab automatically (within your plan's CRM size). Past runs: "Past screenings". Screenings per month depend on your plan; see Pricing.

Founders can screen their own startup against one VC from the startup page ("Screen against VC").

Track startups in your Startup CRM

Open Startup Screening → "Startup CRM" tab (sign in needed).

Startups you screen land here automatically. Add more with "Add startups" (pitch deck, pasted text, a quick form, or pick from Gatsbie); screen any of them later with "Screen against VC".

Switch "Table / Board"; on the board, drag startups between deal stages. Click a startup to open its drawer: "Screen against VC", "Update info", Financials, Round, deal stage, tags ("Add tag") and "Private notes" (auto-saved).

In the table, select startups to "Share" them or "Download" → "One-pager(s)" / "Screening report". Removed startups are under "Removed".

How many startups the CRM holds depends on your plan; see Pricing.

    Dealflow alerts

On a VC card or VC page, click "Dealflow alert" (bell) to get an email when a startup on Gatsbie is a strong match for that VC. You choose the minimum match score and daily or weekly emails.

Manage your alerts at My VC alerts. Investors can also list "Competitors & funds I track" in Account Setting → Investor profile to get alerts for those funds.

Find LPs: family offices, funds of funds and institutions

Menu, Investor side → Limited Partners:

    • Family Office: family offices with their approach, capital type, target fund types, ticket size, AUM, LP commitment size and "Team Members" ("Show Email", "Request Coffee Chat"). Filter by location, type, investment focus and focus location; "Download" an Excel list; "Bulk Coffee Chat"; "Add Family Office".
    • Funds of Funds & Institutions: investors that put money into funds (funds of funds, institutional investors such as pensions and endowments, wealth managers): the same investor list, with quick filters for those LP types.

Fund managers raising a fund: on the Family Office page, use "Match your fund with the Family Offices below using AI": describe your fund or upload your "Fund Deck", then "AI Match". The filters below shape the pool; "Past Matches" reopens earlier runs.

Fund managers (GPs) have their own plans; see Pricing.

    Plans & limits

    Plans and subscriptions

Plans: Free, Level 1 and Level 2 (fund managers have GP plans). Higher levels unlock more matching runs, investor contact details, outreach emails, downloads, screenings and saved investors. Exact limits and prices are on Pricing: each plan card lists the main limits, and "See every limit" opens the full list.

Manage or cancel: Account Setting → "My subscription" ("Manage plan", "Upgrade plan", "Cancel subscription"; you keep access until the end of the billing period).

No subscription needed for a single report: Pitch deck matching lets you pay per deck, email it, and get matched investors with contacts by email.

You can pay by card or with your Gatsbie wallet (Wallet).

Without an account you can browse startups and investors and ask Gatsbie a limited number of questions. Sign up free to create your startup, run AI matching and keep chatting.

    Wallet, points and promo codes

Your wallet holds points you can spend on single actions without a subscription, e.g. downloading or sharing match results, matching with specific VCs, or adding a startup from a website (the cost shows on the button).

Open Wallet (menu → Settings → Top-up Wallet) or Account Setting → "My wallet": "Top Up Wallet", "Redeem Promotion Code", "Request Withdrawal", and your transaction history. If a payment is missing, use "Recover Missing Payments".

Monthly profile limit (Profiles this month)

Each plan can see a number of different investor and startup profiles in full per month, in lists or on their page. Your count is under "Profiles this month" in the avatar menu (top right); it resets on the 1st.

Never counted: your own CRM (Favorite Investors) and funds from your own AI matching results.

When you reach it, further profiles show as locked cards; their thesis, portfolio and contacts come back on the 1st of next month, or upgrade for a higher limit (Pricing). Browsing very fast can pause lists for a few minutes.
